We, KARD, pursue the design derived from the ‘Discourse’ expecting different perspectives of ideas of both major students and non-major students.

We, KARD, respect the ‘Inclusion’ of design ideas from different fields and the thoughts of students allowing their diversity as well as creativity.

Who We Are

KARD provides 2 representative teams as Architecture team and Art • Design team, based on the College of FAA(Fine and Applied Arts) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Also, we always welcome the students regardless of their major since we do care about diverse perspectives and ideas derived from various fields of people.

Architecture and Design have in common that they have processes of visualizing, drawing, and expressing thoughts and imaginations that start from the mind of designers using physical methods and tools.

Nowadays, contemporary designs are valued based on how much commercial demand they can generate and the designs that meet that standard are prevalent.

However, rather than such standardized designs,

• We deliberate and develop more about "How to stimulate the emotions of people" by productive ‘Discourse’ for ‘Inclusion’, respecting our designers’ unique thoughts and methods.
• We draw creative ideas by the philosophy above to get closer to the earnest wishes of people as an inventor.
• Architecture team generates aesthetic ideas that can be built on the land in physical form.
• Design team expresses and unfolds designs that can move the hearts of people.
